My First RomCon® Conference
I’d heard so much about RomCon® before I even signed up for the conference that I thought I’d pretty much had a handle on the situation. Not the case, at all! The whole experience was bigger, better and more AMAZING than I’d expected.

I walked into the hotel, checked my bags and set off for the wild blue yonder. And I was like a child in a candy store. I wanted to do everything, I wanted to take part in everything, and I wanted to immerse myself in the whole experience. The people running the conference were first class! They helped me so much I have to send them my thanks.

I immediately ran into many familiar writers that were either in my chapters, or authors I’d met at other conferences. That was very reassuring. I knew if these savvy ladies were there, I was pretty close to the action, and at the right place.

There were several games, several events and a wonderful speed dating session, where you as a writer, could interact with your readers. That concept simply blew my mind. It was so good to sit across from so many people who’d read my books! The experience was one of those ‘squeal’ moments.

I loved the workshops and the games. Listening to so many authors I read and admired turned me instantly into a fan girl. Yes, I admit I followed a few writers around like a puppy dog. I didn’t feel one bit guilty. How often do you get that close to New York Times Bestselling author? See my point?

There were so many readers. The book signing was one of the best I’ve ever attended. I sold books, but somehow I came home with more books than I took to sale. That’s wonderful if you’re a big reader…and I am. I also felt welcome at RomCon® as an Indie author. Very often we’re the step-children and stashed in corners where no one can find us or our books. At RomCon® we all blended together and it made for a great signing, and the readers really like that idea.

So, after such a wonderful experience, will I be back? You betcha! I wouldn’t miss it for the world, speaking as a reader and a writer. It’s the best conference out there. Nowhere else can you enjoy every aspect of the reader/writer experience. RomCon® is where the action is.

Next year RomCon® will be back in Denver and when I looked at the new revamping of the conference, I realized it was going to be bigger and better, if that’s possible. Be sure to keep up with RomCon® by subscribing to their newsletter and visiting their site often. I know I do.

Hope to see you in 2014!
