Meet the Bolton Brothers!
I’m thrilled to introduce the Bolton Brothers—Ben, Billy and Bobby—the heroes of my newest Harlequin Desire series! Ben’s story, Straddling the Line, just released on May 7. He’ll be followed by Billy’s story, Bringing Home the Bachelor, on September 2. Bobby will wrap up the series with Expecting the Bolton Baby on November 5. They live fast, ride hard and love fiercely!
So who are the Bolton Brothers? Let’s ask them!
Sarah: Hi, guys. Tell us about yourself.
Bobby: Well, as the name implies, we’re the Bolton Brothers and we run the Crazy Horse Choppers, a custom-built motorcycle shop based in Rapid City, South Dakota
Billy: (rolling his eyes) There he goes again—doing all the talking.
Ben: (nodding) He always does that.
Bobby: (smiling widely) Hey, can I help it if I’m good at talking? Unlike some people in this room? (glances at Billy)
Billy: (glares at Bobby, cracks his knuckles)
Sarah: Uh, right. So you guys own a chopper shop?
Ben: Yes. It was started by our father, Bruce Bolton, back in the 70s.
Billy: Ben and I run it now. (glares harder at Bobby again)
Sarah: What do you mean?
Ben: Billy designs and builds the bikes to spec—Chief Creative Officer. I’m the Chief Financial Officer—I make sure the company pays its bills on time and manage our portfolio. And Bobby . . .
Bobby: (beaming, talks with his hands) I’m the Chief Marketing Director. I help sell our high-end bikes to the rich and famous—men and women looking to beef up their tough-guy image with a little horsepower. (Smiles at his brothers again) I’ve got big plans for this company. Right now, we’re a boutique outfit—selling twenty or thirty bikes a month. But with the right marketing plan, we could be easily selling five, six times that!
Billy: (growling) I don’t want to hear your crazy ‘marketing’ ideas.
Ben: The last one? Those jackets? I’m still carrying the loan for that brilliant plan.
Bobby: (still smiling) Guys—risk is inherent in business. You’ve got to spend money to make money!
Sarah: (attempting to regain control of the conversation) So, business is going well?
Ben: (under his breath) No thanks to him.
Sarah: (rapidly changing the subject) So, who’s the oldest Bolton Brother?
(Silence; both Ben and Bobby look at Billy)
Billy: (reluctantly) That’d be me.
Ben: I’m second.
Bobby: And I’m the youngest. Mom saved the best for last!
Billy: (glares really hard) Don’t make me hurt you.
Sarah: So, you all . . . get along okay? (fake smile)
Bobby: Really well! The Bolton men were raised to believe that family is the most important thing. Even if we have our little disagreements, we protect the family. Right, fellas?
Ben: Next question.
Sarah: What do you ride?
Bobby: We each built our own from scratch. I ride a sports bike—what you might call a crotch rocket. It’s built for speed!
Billy: (rolling eyes) Dude—no one wants to hear about your crotch.
Sarah: (pointedly NOT looking at anyone’s crotch) What do you ride, Billy?
Billy: Customized chopper.
Sarah: (nervously) Of course. Ben?
Ben: A cruiser I built when I was sixteen.
Sarah: Have you guys seen The Bolton Brothers: Brick by Brick? It’s the book trailer I made for your stories. (Readers, you can see it here.)
Billy: Wow. Even Bobby doesn’t know what to say.
Sarah: (growing desperate) Um, so—seeing anyone? (blushes)
Billy: (even more glaring) (possibly the glare of death)
Ben: (grits teeth) Next question.
Bobby: Singleness suits me. First and foremost, I’m devoted to growing this company and maximizing our market share and a long-term relationship would hinder my synergistic goals.
Billy: For the love of God, man—just say no, okay? And speak English!
Bobby: Someone has to say something, Billy. Are you going to suddenly start talking? (makes a big deal of settling into his chair) I never thought I’d see the day—Wild Bill Bolton, talking!
(A brawl breaks out; Sarah escapes and locks the door behind her.)
So! (panting) As you can see, the Bolton Brothers are a . . . spirited group of men! They do indeed live hard, ride fast and—I hope—love fiercely! Will the women they meet tame them? (Hint: They just might!)

Bio: Award-winning author Sarah M. Anderson may live east of the Mississippi River, but her heart lies out west on the Great Plains. With a lifelong love of horses and two history teachers for parents, it wasn’t long before her characters found themselves out in South Dakota among the Lakota Sioux. She loves to put people from two different worlds into new situations and to see how their backgrounds and cultures take them someplace they never thought they’d go.
When not helping out at school or walking her rescue dogs, Sarah spends her days having conversations with imaginary cowboys and American Indians, all of which is surprisingly well-tolerated by her wonderful husband and son. Find out more about Sarah at www.sarahmanderson.com.
