It's great to be here talking about books! For those who don't know me, I've been writing for publication since about 2006, and I just celebrated my 25th book release. I write mainly mystery/romance, but I also have a reincarnation/time travel series, and a futuristic series. And I'm working on a mult-book futuristic series that I hope to release in 3 volumes, with 3 books per volume. Read More
an Action Adventure? Why Not!
I don’t write the traditional Romantic Suspense. My books are action adventure with romance tossed in to make it interesting. Think Romancing the Stone, Indiana Jones, or more recently Sherlock Holmes. There are bad people, good people, and different cultures mixed into a tale that is fast-paced, action-packed, and sizzles with romantic chemistry. Read More
Who Inspires You?
In today’s world there are many women that we could look up to and try to emulate. But I find that the women that most inspire me are women that I know personally. Their stories have a way of connecting to my life in ways that a stranger’s can not.
For instance, I look at my female relatives. All these women are part of my family. Each worked hard to make a difference in the lives of their children. Read More

CRAZY LITTLE THING is a fun and breezy story about Sadie Turner, a charmingly neurotic perfectionist who packs up her two kids and escapes to her eccentric aunt’s lake house after leaving her cheating husband. I’m Meg Lacey, and I have a new series Million Dollar Men, with the first book, Million Dollar Mistake, coming October 23, 2012 from Samhain Publishing. I’m so excited to join the Samhain Family. I’ve previously written for Harlequin/Silhouette, and I also have a new paranormal romance release out, The Sparrow and The Hawk from Imajinn Books. Also, I’ve just signed a contract with Entangled Publishing. So I’m kind of busy. Not that being busy is anything new to any of us. Is it? I love being busy, because I just get in trouble when I’m bored. Read More
I’ve just completed a virtual book tour for my contemporary romance, The Hungry Heart. Almost every day for the past four weeks a blogger has either interviewed me and/or posted a review. I’m very pleased that the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. (Reviews really are a gamble, aren’t they?) Certainly there were some bloggers who had thoughtful, constructive criticisms, and I’m grateful for those because they will make my writing better. A couple had trouble relating to the heroine, and that’s fine, too. It would be a dull world if we all liked the same things. There was one review, however, that had me scratching my head. Her problem wasn’t with the plot or characters, it was with the formula of girl meets boy, girl loses boy, girl and boy end up together. Read More
It’s not just the secret to writing a good romance story; it’s also the key to writing a thrilling suspense novel—which is where I’ve found my home over the last couple years.
At its core, every story is about a character who wants something but can’t get it. As soon as she gets it, the story is over. My specialty is penning crime and psychological suspense novels (although each of them has a strong romantic element as well!). Both romance and suspense stories deal with this unmet desire, and when they meet in the same novel, it can be very satisfying. Read More
Cowboys and Soldiers
Melissa Cutler here, and lately I've been thinking about what makes a man a Real Man. I know, as opposed to what…an Old Navy mannequin? The thing is, when you live and breathe romance novels, you spend a lot of time pondering rippling abs, cocky confidence, and that low-down rumbling laugh that turns me melty. You know what else a real man needs, at least a hero in my books? Tools. Read More
Where would I be without my readers?
Writers have the urge, passion or vocation to write. But if no one reads our work, what would that mean? Would we still have the incentive to write the romance, the mystery, the fantasy plot?
After I sold my first book in 1991, I didn't know much about marketing and sales. But I had been involved in retail in a department store, in a jewelry store, in Home Interiors and Gifts. Basically, I knew you built a customer base by one satisfied customer at a time. That's how I approached selling books. My first intention was to write an emotional book readers would want to put on their keeper shelves. But then what? Read More
